favorite fall nails

I've always been a fan of dark nails; there's something so chic and sophisticated about dark nail polish that the pastels and neons of spring and summer just don't have. Don't get me wrong - I painted my nails every shade of orange and mint green under the sun from April to August, but I always look forward to pulling out the oxblood red and the jewel tones come autumn. Here are some of my favorite nail colors this fall.

from left to right:

Essie "carry on" - dark purple and a bit matte, it looked so nice against knits.

Revlon "beachy" - despite the name, the gold/orange shimmer has been perfect for fall. This line is supposed to smell really nice as well, though I think it might be a bit of a gimmick!

Essie "fall in line" - a gorgeous grey toned green; I have this on my nails now and I love how it looks!

Sonia Kashuk "wicked attraction" - here's the oxblood I mentioned earlier... Added bonus - it stayed on my nails forever! No chips at all, which is impressive for a self-confessed nail-biter!

Essie "penny talk" - such a unique color, it's gold and pink and absolutely gorgeous. I kept on getting compliments on this one, which I think is the sign of a good nail polish!

So, those are my favorite autumn nail polishes. Sadly, I've been eyeing Essie's (can you tell my favorite nail brand?!) "for the twill of it" because 1) it's beautiful and 2) Scotland holds a special place in my heart, and the line is Scottish themed; but no matter how much I stalk the Target near my home, it's always out! What have your favorite nail colors been this autumn?

easy autumn makeup

Normally, I like to give myself a bit of time in the morning to do my makeup. It's a nice way for me to start the day and slowly wake up. Unfortunately I'm not really a morning person, so there are some times where I have to improvise a bit and put myself together quick! I always like to have something on my eyes, and this eye look is really easy to do, and it's something I've been going back to when I have to rush to meet up with friends or have class soon.

Both products are from Physician's Formula and actually neither of them are eye products! They're both bronzers. The cute knit looking one sadly had its packaging thrown away before I could write this, but the shimmer one is called Vegas Strip. All I did was brush the darker part of the matte bronzer over my whole lid, blend the edges, then put the lightest shade of the shimmer bronzers in the corner and first third of my eyelid and then blended it all together. I also took the lighter shade under my eye near the tear duct and lined my bottom lashes with the matte color which looked really pretty and earthy. All done in ten minutes - easy!

I chose to add a bit of liquid liner and mascara because I have a serious addiction to both, but you could also use a pencil to make it look more natural! What are some of your favorite fall makeup looks?
